After installing the proficiency component, the weapons can still be equipped and used.

But the item description vanishes, only the name remains. e.g. Longsword +1. Uninstalling returns the text.

Just thought i'd grumble here about an otherwise fine mod on the off-chance anybody knows a quick/easy fix. i've tried installing before, after, without other mods. The same thing happens; weapon descriptions vanish. The only thing i can think of is somehow the mod doesn't like me using the Multi-Install tool.

Either that... or it really, really wants me to use the +4 Staff of Rhynn. All other items get blanked, but that description stays.

Oh, and the wording 2-handed weapon backstabbing is clear as mud. Wait... so am i nerfing by entering 0 and improving by 1 or vice versa? That and HaerDalis tweaking never works.

Can't reproduce locally. Can you try to do so and note *exactly* which options you chose during that component, so I can see if the same thing happens with them on my install.

0 is no change, 1 restricts all 2-handed weapons from backstabbing, 2 restricts only quarterstaves. If you've got a suggestion to reword it to be more clear, do tell.

That and HaerDalis tweaking never works.

What about it doesn't work? If you get a failure, there's a manual fix for that in the bug thread (which will be included in the next release).

Some other mods may have tampered with your "dialog.tlk" file, moving or inserting even one string may upset the whole index, and cause weird description mismatches. Seen it many times, usually when I install a mod half way through a game, all the in-game texts get messed up.

It's working with a fresh Tutu installation on top of new BG1, BG2+ToB installs.

i very much like having shortbows instead of slings on my Level 1 cannon fodder... err... companions.

No idea what it was that wiped out the weapon descriptions. Btw, very much like the new description of two-handed weapon backstabbing mentioned in the "Soliciting Translations" thread.

It happened to me too. All descriptions (unidentified and identified) of weapons got overwritten by values which point to either a random text or to a non-existing point that gives a blank description. BLUN10.ITM ("Root of the Problem") shows "Suldanesselar", and SW1H01.ITM (plain Long Sword) shows nothing. I think this happened after I tweaked the use of "fighters-only" weapons for multiclassed, and I couldn't roll back to a previous installation because I did some reinstalls to tweak NPCs I forgot to in a previous install.

Since the OP confirmed it wasn't L1NPCs hosing all the descriptions, it is unlikely to be the case on your install. Usually this sort of thing happens with not starting a new game after making textual changes to the game with any mod. But even more likely, you have other tweaks or mods as well. Post your WeiDU.log (in SPOILER tags to collapse it) if in doubt, but if you have a bunch of mods it probably makes more sense to post in the megamod forum on shsforums.net unless you're sure it's this mod.

Sorry about that. After a reinstall things went fine. Maybe I forgot to delete the ToBEX_ini folder, or to remove the ToB disc from the dvd player. But I'd like to warn about undesirable interactions between the "Dudleyfix spells and innate" component and Divine Remix. It messes up the whole sphere systems, actually reverting it to many spells. Maybe it should check for DR installation, as does the "fighter/druid can't use plate armor" component.
