It was asked in another thread if the SP Collection would work with Tutu, so I thought I'd go ahead and delineate which G3 mods will and will not work with it
Exclusively Tutu:

It'd be good to see this thread updated and expanded a bit. Specifically, information on non-G3 mods and installation order would be helpful.
> Inclusion of finished non-G3 mods, patches or fixes > Non-Tutu mods/fixes rendered obsolete by Tutu > Optimal installation order A lot of mods claim they should be installed first or last, which raises installation order issues if several make the same claim. Some of this might go beyond the scope of a G3 forum, but since a good number of the finished mods I've found are G3, this seems as good a place for it as any. PocketPlane has a couple good lists, but they seem to be a bit dated and don't seem to address installation order: http://forums.pocketplane.net/index.php?topic=19586.0 http://modlist.pocketplane.net/index.php?a...t&cat_id=98 As for my own installation, this is what's been working for me (more or less) so far. I've noticed that a lot of the non-Tutu mods do not make an impact on the Tutu conversion - they just modify the BG1 base (some claim that if you install them before Tutu conversion, they'll copy over). Thus far, I've just been interested in mods that add to, enhance or fix aspects the game without greatly changing it (like a "conversion" or overhaul of the whole game). BG1 base files > BG1+TotSC full install (Patch if not latest version) http://www.bioware.com/games/tales_sword_c...upport/patches/ BG1 base fixes > Baldurdash Fix Pack & Text Update (non-WeiDU) http://www.baldurdash.org/BG1/bg1fixes.html > Baldurdash fix v1.6 (WeiDU - unsure of the completion status of this but should be considered an alternate to the above) http://dragonshoard.blackwyrmlair.net/bwl_...load.php?mod=29 > Avenger's Elven Sleep/Charm Resistance Fix (not sure if this transfers to or is obsolete in Tutu) http://www.gamesector.co.yu/avenger/files/atraits_bg1.zip BG1 non-Tutu fixes/mods (none of these transfer to a Tutu install that I've been able to see; some may be unnecessary in Tutu) > Dudleyfix Packs 1-5 http://www.dudleyville.com/dudleyfix/fixpacks.htm > Dudley Tweaks http://www.dudleyville.com/dudleyfix/bg1_tweaks.htm > Claw of Kazgaroth Blur Remover http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/dl.php?s=BG...f=BG/misc72.zip > Wear Magic Jewelry with Armor http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/dl.php?s=BG...BG/Itemexcl.zip > BG1 NPC Remix Pack http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/dl.php?s=BG...1_NPC_Remix.zip > The Vault v5 (though this mod claims compatibility with BG1Tutu, I have yet to see its changes in Tutu when following its install instructions) http://www.angelfire.com/rpg2/azenmod/ReadMe-Vault.htm#Vault BG2 base files > BG2-SoA+ToB full install (Patch if not latest version) http://www.bioware.com/games/throne_bhaal/support/patches/ BG2 base fixes > Baldurdash Fix Pack & Text Update (non-WeiDU) http://www.baldurdash.org/ToB/Fixes/TOBfixes.html > Avenger's Rogue Rebalancing Pack http://www.gamesector.co.yu/avenger/ BG1Tutu/EasyTutu http://www.pocketplane.net/mambo/index.php...3&Itemid=98 > Base files > EasyTutu Degreenifier > EasyTutu NPC Kits > TutuFix > Finch NPC > Indira NPC > Sirine's Call Quest G3 Tutu Mods http://www.gibberlings3.net/downloads/index.php > BG1 NPC Project > Murneth NPC > Sword and Fist > Song and Silence > Divine Remix Other Tutu Mods/Fixes > Herbs & Potions Add-In by Baronius http://www.blackwyrmlair.net/Mods/herbaddin.php > Slime Mini-Quest by Jastey http://www.blackwyrmlair.net/Mods/slimequest.php > Grey Clan Episode I http://greyclan.blackwyrmlair.net/ep1/ > TutuGUI http://www.pocketplane.net/mambo/index.php...3&Itemid=98 I probably missed a lot here or have sub-optimal info, which is why I put this out here - I'd like to hear what other people have installed. One general question I have is: should spell/kit mods be installed before or after NPC mods? Seems to me that's something that'd make a big difference. Also, won't there be conflicts between kit mods given the finite number of kit slots? -------------------- Mod Contributions

EasyTutu already contains all of the fixes relevant to a Tutu install, so any unofficial fixes for either BG or BG2 (Fixpack, Baldurdash, Dudleyville, etc.) are unnecessary. At this point, I don't see anything to recommend normal Tutu over EasyTutu, except for Mac users--Gorilym has recently ported EasyTutu to Mac, so even that's going away.

has the latest research on compatability; the October 6 edit of this top post had some of this info but not everything. There are also several posts on install order at PPG recently; check the Tutu forums for those (I checked through all of them and posted a synopsis over there in preparation for the install order recommendations in BG1 NPC's ReadMe file). A note on the Vault: it is a WeiDU-based installer, but if you check the ReadMe it exects to be installed on BG1 *before* the Tutu conversion, not on the Tutu directory at all, making it useless to install after Tutu has been run - which is ok, because I trot it out every so often hoping it will have been updated, only to have it crash my Tutu game mid-stream. The Vault in its present form will not work with EasyTutu. Macready does not recommend installing anything other than paches on BG2 for the purposes of the EasyTutu conversion. BaldurDash for BG1 and the BG2 FixPack are recommended for those actual games, but the best bet for EasyTutu is to add those on after the EasyTutu installer has done its work. The only reason to use Tutu v4 rather than EasyTutu at all is if you are a non-english speaker, and wish to use the language versions other than english. EasyTutu does not support foreign languages speciffically; there are a number of posts from people who have used it successfully and had a mixed-language game, but Macready does not support foreign language versions (something about only 24 hours in a day, etc -------------------- If you think it's tough in real life, try being a figment of MY imagination...

Well I did notice that some of the Dudleyville tweaks at least aren't present in EasyTutu. For example, there's a lone hobgoblin around Fisherman's Lake that's supposed to ask you for healing, but instead it just attacks you. The Vault in its present form will not work with EasyTutu. Ah, well that explains it. I did follow the install instructions by putting it in BG1 before the Tutu conversion (it also says to copy some BAMs over to BG2 I think). But apparently EasyTutu doesn't pick this up anyway? The only reason to use Tutu v4 rather than EasyTutu at all is if you are a non-english speaker, and wish to use the language versions other than english. Unless you wanted to use something like the Vault (or is it also not BG1Tutu-compatible)? It sounds like its author is no longer maintaining it. How much work would it be to make it fully compatible? -------------------- Mod Contributions

For example, there's a lone hobgoblin around Fisherman's Lake that's supposed to ask you for healing, but instead it just attacks you. Definitely something to bring to Macready; some of this stuff is actually original BG1 bug stuff that Unfinished Business is cleaning up (not yet ready for Tutu, no ETA). I definitely suggest not putting "fixes" of any kind on EasyTutu - lots of really good bugfixing work by Macready could be blown away. I would kill the Hobgoblin! QUOTE Ah, well that explains it. I did follow the install instructions by putting it in BG1 before the Tutu conversion (it also says to copy some BAMs over to BG2 I think). But apparently EasyTutu doesn't pick this up anyway? Yep - EasyTutu copies a stable bugfixed Tutu override folder into place. Anything you do to BG1 beyond patching is ignored by EasyTutu (a very good thing QUOTE Unless you wanted to use something like the Vault (or is it also not BG1Tutu-compatible)? It sounds like its author is no longer maintaining it. How much work would it be to make it fully compatible? Well, if it is abandoned and someone gets permission, some of the ideas of the mod could be assimilated or the mod streamlined down to the "add items to existing characters", "reintroduce greater potions of healing" and any quest work that got finished. The AI/scripting work is now made obsolete by SCS and cirerrik's eSeries/gMinion scripting work; I was never able to get the quest to play without a hard crash. The items are slightly overpowered (my opinion) but i still want to play this mod - it made sense to me (minus the demon high-level fight in the temple annex of Beregost). I can't evaluate how long it would take to rebuild the mod to more universally compatable code; the first step would be for you to investigate whether the mod author is a. interested in modding anymore, b. interested in rebuilding it himself, c. ok with someone rebuilding it as long as he still gets top billing and full credit for his creative content, and d. if there is a modding community willing to "adopt" the mod. This last one is a little tricky; The Vault was a one-man creative project, independent of any community, started when modding didn't have the cool new tools, filled in IESDP, or even most of the functionality of WeiDU. No one wants to steal someone's hard work or denigrate it; at the same time, it will require a pretty much chassis rebuild, which means getting up to speed for new stuff. (Related note re: artistic permissions: Someone please remind me via PM to ask Blucher about how he wants the L1 NPC mod officially titled, so he gets creative atribution and top billing, with Azazelo as team leader for the rebuild... even when permission is given, it is pretty important to make sure the original creative artist gets top dog status, no matter how many revisions, or how much expansion, etc.) -------------------- If you think it's tough in real life, try being a figment of MY imagination...

Well I did that... bottom line seems to be "Core Tutu development is more about fixing bugs than it is about making tweaks, though. We have Cam for tweaks. Unfortunately I'm too much of a noob ATM to build the suggested buglist but apparently the information is there in the changelogs. Maybe once I get more familiar with everything. QUOTE ...some of this stuff is actually original BG1 bug stuff that Unfinished Business is cleaning up (not yet ready for Tutu, no ETA). Yeah, too bad that UB is not yet Tutu-compatible, sounds like a really great idea. I hate games (or books, movies etc.) that leave loose ends lying about. QUOTE I would kill the Hobgoblin! Of course I've done that too... even with the tweak I think that was the point (if you give him 50gp he goes away... why bother?). But as I said in the other forum, the dialog tweak makes a pointless encounter slightly less pointless. Some lone hobgoblin running around without dialog isn't the big deal obviously. But there's a lot of other stuff in the original fix packs of uncertain status as to whether Tutu or other mods have included it. For consistency's sake, everything sensible in the Baldurdash/Dudley BG1 fixes should be in Tutu or a mod/fix of it. Also contacted the originator of the Vault mod re: what you suggested... not sure if he checks his hotmail anymore given his website comments but we'll see I guess. Re: your install order in the other thread - seems pretty sensible and similar to mine. Re: Secret of Bone Hill - has anyone played through this on Tutu? I downloaded the mod (v2.05) and it's huge (195 MB). Also its forum seemed to indicate some outstanding bugs so I'm a bit leery of putting it in just now. -------------------- Mod Contributions

I haven't head of anyone, but I am sure there are folks; as soon as I have a few posts to reference, I will try to include the data for install order!
Sir BillyBob is active (when RL allows) on SHS - you might check that forum and even PM him about whether or not someone has done the whole thing in Tutu. -------------------- If you think it's tough in real life, try being a figment of MY imagination...

Someone should probably "unpin" this thread too, as the other thread includes and updates the mod compatibility data here.

I don't feel comfortable unpinning CamDawg's thread, but we do have the updated thread available; I am leaving it to the Editor-In-Chief to organize these two threads into an appropriate central point.

While there's definitely overlap between the two threads, I think it's actually be a good idea to keep both around. This thread will be more practical if someone simply wants to see which G3 mods are Tutu-compatible, instead of examining the entire install order scheme.

While there's definitely overlap between the two threads, I think it's actually be a good idea to keep both around. This thread will be more practical if someone simply wants to see which G3 mods are Tutu-compatible, instead of examining the entire install order scheme. I thought about your point, and while it seems logical, ultimately I think I would disagree. There is nothing in a "Tutu compatibility" thread that would not be summed up well enough in a "Tutu install order" thread. And it avoids having to update both. But then, I think the latter should be simplified quite a bit too (not blaming anyone... partly my fault, and something also on my "to-do" list). My original point was to avoid redundancy, particularly in pinned topics. I wasn't suggesting deleting this topic, just unpinning it. (For that matter, while it may be useful for Tutu mod compatibility purposes, after reading my post above, it would also be useful for our 'BG1 Fixpack/Tweakpack' effort |
